Dan Curtis has passed into the Dark Shadows

I am sad to say that Dan Curtis died yesterday of brain cancer. His wife, Norma, pre-deceased him by three weeks. He was also the producer of "Winds of War" and "War and Remembrance" which had a great following as well. I can't even begin to tell you the number of people I have met through Dark Shadows fandom. It is a touchstone for many a fan. I think I am going to pull out my DVDs and visit Collinwood again today.

I am grateful that Dan Curtis did create Dark Shadows from a very bad dream.

This is not a good week for the science fiction community.

I remember watching Dark Shadows as a kid, and actually being scared.

Of course, as an adult, it was funny.

Yep and we lost Octavia Butler earlier this month. I'm hoping that this is just some planet in retrograde that is going to move back so this stops for a bit.

Darn. I totally forgot about that and I looooved those as a kid. I have a feeling from an LA buddy of mine told me that it was probably one of those "it was a blessing in disguise" deaths since he was in the latter stages and things were not going well for him.

ulbh and I have been going through the Dark Shadows episodes on DVD from the beginning and have quite a few left. We're definitely enjoying the series; long live the memory of Dan Curtis.

Yep. That series rawked. I didn't mind the remake with Ben Cross either.
