Big Girl Bed

When we bought Caroline's crib, we looked at a lot of them that converted into a toddler bed. Caroline picked out the one she liked the best. We laid her in the couple we were considering seriously and this was one that she really indicated that she liked a lot. This was one of the beds that converted into a toddler bed. Now when we have been going on trips recently she has been sleeping in a "big girl" bed rather than a crib. She really enjoyed it but her crib stayed as such. Recently we discovered that she could get in and out of her crib on her own. So it was time for the conversion from crib to bed. I have been talking to her about it and she had not exactly happy about the thought. Yesterday something changed in her head and when we talked about it she seemed sanguine to the idea. She watched and helped me convert the crib. Then came bedtime and she didn't want to go to bed. She sat on her father's lap until she fell asleep at the very end of the Oscar broadcast. I took her upstairs and put her into her big girl bed. This morning I found her playing with her dollies in her bed. She grinned and said, "Big Girl Bed!" as she patted it. So I think we are OK with it now.

Caroline was able to impart to me the other day that she had a headache. She explained to me that her head hurt on the inside which to me means headache. She is very self aware of her body. When she is not feeling well she can usually explain to us what feels wrong or hurts. There are times that she can be a drama queen. My favorite has to be the foot of the stairs when she come all the way down, turns around, and pretends to trip on the last stair while falling gracefully to the floor. Boo-boos need multiple kisses to feel better.

I am grateful for beds that convert.
