Hi there. Did you miss me?
A lot has happened in the past 24 hours so I thought I would catch up a bit.
Ariel's first County Tournament
Ariel bowled in 3 out of the 6 games and did pretty well for herself. When she was pulled her team was in second place. They had to play the 1st place team from the other division. They were in first after the first game and she shot a 184. They moved into second after the second game and had a firm hold on 2nd after the 3rd game. After the lunch break they moved to another set of lanes that were very unforgiving and landed in third place. Overall she did very well for herself and picked up most of her spares. She is figuring they will do better next year since this was the first year for a lot of the players.
The Weather
I take all the weather forecasts with a serious grain of salt. The worse the weather the happier the weather forecasters seem to be. This time they were not wrong. It started yesterday evening a little before 5 pm. The lawns started to turn white and the wind picked up. By this morning we had over a foot on the ground where the snow stayed put and some pretty impressive drifts. The wind was the kicker. There were points today I could not see my neighbor's house across the street. It was a total whiteout. It is still snowing as of 4 pm or the loose snow is blowing around a lot. It is kind of hard to say. The Broadway Bears auction Ariel and I were going to attend has been postponed so that was the only thing we really had scheduled for the day. Good thing to because. . .
Caroline and the Very Ugly Stomach Bug
(Which I am putting behind the cut since it is not a pleasant story and includes bodily fluids being released by the body.)
Saturday Night about 7:30pm
So the snow is starting to fall. Caroline had not taken a nap. She curled up next to me on the couch reading her Miss Spider book. Then she looked at me and gave a barking cough. Vomit started to emerge. She jumped up into my arms and puked down my shirt-front into my bra. I hurried her to the bathroom where she proceeded to regurgitate everything she had to eat for the past week it seemed. I striped her favorite blue dress off of her and got her upstairs to the tub. She looked at me and said "Potty?" I opened it and she leaned over and puked some more (I warned you). Ariel and I got her into the tub. Ariel took care of the vomit spots. I then washed Caroline hair and she seemed fine. She splashed in the tub and played with her big sister while I took care of cleaning myself up (remember the bra full of puke?) and started the laundry. I went up and put Caroline in footy jamies and brought her down. I gave her water and put her in my lap.
8:47pm
I get up to use the bathroom and Caroline settles into the couch. I hear a cry from Ariel to get back in there quick. Caroline was upchucking again. I couldn't believe that she had anything left in her little tummy. She went to the toilet and finished getting rid of everything in her stomach. Back into the tub for bath number two and she seemed fine again. Clean pair of footy pjs and back into my lap with a water bottle. She fell asleep in my lap and I took her up for bed about 9:30pm
Sunday Morning 2:30AM
Ariel got up with Caroline and settled her in her lap with a milk bottle figuring that she will let me sleep which was really sweet of her. She calls me at 3 AM because Caroline is shivering. I send Ariel back up to bed and settle down with Caroline. She tells me she is ready to go to bed. We gather up her "my little ponies" and off to bed she goes. I go to bed and listen to the music box over the baby monitor.
Sunday Morning 3:47 AM
I hear that barking cough that all parents dread hearing. I go into Caroline's room to find that she has tossed her cookies again. I got Ariel up to help me. Bath #3 is drawn and I deal with the laundry which unfortunately this time contains Caroline's precious pink blanket as well as the bed linens. I put it in the washer while moving the previous load to the dryer. I send Ariel back to bed and take Caroline downstairs. She starts looking for her pink blankie. Can't find it so she goes upstairs. I explain to her that her blanket is dirty so I had to give it a bath. I give her an alternative. Mommy's blanket which was given to me by the cast of Tony and Tina's Wedding in Buffalo, NY. She is OK with this trade and I get another water bottle. In short order Caroline is asleep in my lap. I take her upstairs and back to bed at 5:20AM
Sunday Morning at 7:40AM
My cat decides that I have slept enough and it was his time to get into the bedroom. I didn't want Caroline to wake up so I let the little furry idiot come in and settle down next to me for a nap.
Caroline was fine this morning. She had water which she kept down and then milk and then Cheerios. Except for the explosive diarrhea, she's back to her little Caroline-self.
I am grateful that Caroline is OK today.
