The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

It was an Atlanta Fantasy Fair in the early 90s. This was after the convention moved to a hotel/convention center near the Atlanta Airport from the Omni Hotel. The Atlanta Fantasy Fair had always been a good convention for me. I started going to it when I was in high school with my friends. Made a lot of friends from that convention. AFF was one of the conventions we lived for. I did some of my first costumes at the convention. Including the X-Men vs. the Hellfire Club (I was a minion that Wolverine took out) and the Hellions vs. the New Mutants (I was Danielle Moonstar) [Tastes great! Less Filling!]

This was the first time I had entered the art show at a convention. I had been screwing around with some puppet ideas and did a Klingon quartet as a lark. The puppets came with a half hour lesson on how to operate the hand and rod puppet. I take pride in that I can teach just about anybody in 30 minutes the basics of operating a hand and rod puppet. Sunday I went to the convention and walked over to the art show. The con chairman is there with his co-chair. He says with great glee, "Peter David bought one of your puppets!" "Wonderful," I said happy that I made a sale. "He wants the lesson that come with the puppet." said the co-chair. "Great." said I and they took me into the dealers room and over to the autograph area and introduced me to Peter and his daughter Shana. We spent about an hour working on puppetry while he signed autographs. I didn't think much of it. He was one of the guests. So we part and I think "What a nice guy". I go home and look at my bookshelf where I have my books arranged with my favorite books on top. I see Star Trek: Q-In-Law by Peter David. The lightbulb goes off...Oh THAT Peter David. Boy did I feel a bit sheepish.

Peter and I ran into each other over the years at various conventions and he became one of my convention friends. Then his life changed and my life changed and now we are together.

The guy in your avatar...is he the "Nana Puddin'" guy? A Christian puppeteer?

that is John Tartagila. He started with the Muppets when he was 16 years old. He won a Tony for Avenue Q. He played Rod and Princeton. He has a new TV series on Disney called John and the Sprites. I had the good fortune of taking a puppetry master class from John last spring which was a blast and a half.

What's your favourite animal? Why?

Horse. Horses are honest with you. If they don't like you, you know it. If they do like you they will work their all for you. I only rode as a teen-ager but it was one of the most magical time that I had with an animal.

A little late, because I was going to ask how you met Peter as well, but which do you think is your favorite convention that you attend annually?

Wow. That's a hard one. If you asked me about 10 years ago I would have said DragonCon hands down but since then both Farpoint and Shoreleave have become near and dear to my heart. So it is a tie between the 3.
