Network Talent

puppetmakerYesterday Ariel performed in the local teen talent show which was sponsored by the library during a local festival. She did the famous Howard Beale speech which culminate to the famous line, “I’m as mad as h-ll and I am not going to take it anymore.” She got the crowd going. Peter wrote a short intro for her about the piece and when it was first performed and pointed out that it is just as relevant today as it was over 30 years ago. And it is. That speech could have been written for the events of today.
Lou Ander announced the line up for his new anthology called With great power….” which included a story by Peter and me. This will be out in 2010 by Pocket. The title of the story is “Head Cases” and I really don’t want to say much more about it because I want y’all to read it with no preconceived notions. I am also working on another project that may or may not go anywhere but it is interesting to contemplate.
Caroline is getting into Pokemon which makes sense since most of her peers are into Pokemon too. I got her one of the guidebooks and she has been flipping through and sounding out the names. She has been reading to herself and doing a good job with books she has never read before. There is the occasional word or phrase that she needs some help with but she is becoming quite the little reader these days. I am very proud of her.
I am grateful for the opportunities that allow us to move forward in a good way.
