Jan. 2nd, 2020

This morning Caroline starts her first day of school for 2020. She had some after school activities and a couple of Doctors’ appointments after school. I sent her off with a bento box lunch, a water bottle, and a strong hug.

I have been awake since 4:30ish and got up at 5 because I didn’t want to wake Peter up. The cats were pleased they were getting fed their wet food before the sun rose.

There is a calm surrounding the house as the sun starts to rise. The noise of a train coming into the station and trucks rumbling up the street break the silence but then we go back to quiet.

The cats, having been fed early, are pretty much sorted out into their morning nap spaces with Mewlan and Inky on the couch watching the front yard. Once the sun comes into the room, they will settle into their naps. Phoebe is bouncing around playing with a discarded puppet ear that has become her favorite toy. She also pulled all the cat toys out of their basket overnight.

My mind is going through what I would like to get done this morning. Some things are dependent on getting other things done. Other things are more important and must be done first. There is an order to my brain and to my list that I understand but it makes no sense to Peter. Caroline gets it but then her brain tends to run like mine.

We finished the Mandalorian and found it good. We are now watching our way through Lost in Space season 2. We are not lacking in things we want to see.

Today the world returns to whatever passes as normal these days. Some businesses will not be really open until next Monday January 6th. Did you know you can re-use your 1992, 1964, and 1936 Calendars this year? I know I have a 1992 Tolkien calendar still.

The world has gone from night to day. The sun is peeping over the horizon illuminating our yard. The few clouds have that lovely shade of pink to them like the painting Impression, Sunrise by Monet.

My brain is a bit all over this morning and that is with coffee and meds. But I can calm it down and focus on what I need to do next.

I am grateful for sunrises that inspire me.
