Last Day SDCC Year of the City 2016
Jul. 25th, 2016 07:18 amI have absolutely no idea why Logan’s Run was going through my head.
Anyway, the last day of a convention can be a funny thing. You are trying to do those few things you wanted to do before you left and you spend a lot of time saying good-bye to people that you are probably only going to interact with on the Internet for six months to a year.
Our day started with Peter having two panels and then had to go run a few floor errands so he didn’t get to the table and seated until 1 pm. Caroline went to the voice actors panel part 2 and was going to go to the Sailor Moon panel but decided against it in favor of going with me while I got a very different souvenir of the convention.
This all started back in 2004 at the CBLDF (Comic Book Legal Defense Fund) where Peter ended up getting a tattoo of the Elfquest character Leetah on his arm after Richard and Wendy Pini donated a 1000 to the CBLDF.
Since then we had, at first, joked about me getting a matching Cutter tattoo. In 2012, Wendy drew a Cutter on my arm, which was fun, but that one wasn’t to be permanent.

Now it is permanent and Peter and I have an art piece on our arms.
This started Saturday night when we found ourselves at the same restaurant as the Richard and Wendy. We were having dinner with Mark and Maggie when I spotted the Pinis. Wendy came over and in short order this happened.

So yesterday I went to Nothing Sacred Tattoo Shop and made the drawing a permanent part of my life. Hector did a good job. He appreciated that I had photos of the original drawing so he could get it right and I think he did a bang up job.
At the next convention you see us at, ask to see the tattoos together because they are of a piece.
I am grateful that after twelve years we have the bookend to this story.
