SDCC 2016 Day 3

We got up and over to the convention center at an early hour just to have the ability to walk around and get to where we needed to go.
Peter had a panel entitled “I read it before I saw it” with a number of other authors including Ransom Riggs (Tales of the Peculiar), James Dashner (The Maze Runner), Melissa de la Cruz (The Isle of the Lost: A Descendants Prequel), Scott Westerfeld (Uglies, Zeroes), and Ben H. Winters (Underground Airlines). Which had Caroline over the moon since she had read a lot of those authors. I saw the last 10 minutes as I had to go to the hotel room and get Caroline’s book for Riggs to sign.
After that was Quick Draw which we never miss. Peter did participate again in the Secret Word portion of the show and for the first time ever was stumped on a word which was ‘nervous’. During this Sergio Aragones was presented with the SDCC Icon Award for his body of work. He was amazed and moved.
Caroline and Peter sat at the table while I ran around to some places and people I needed to get to.
Caroline and I took the puppets to the Guardians II signing. People took pictures of the puppets. The signing was crowded and hot but the crew got people through efficiently. Karen Gillian was signing. Caroline said, “Hi there remember us?” She looked up, saw the puppet Caroline was holding and then me and said, “OH! It’s YOU. I remember you! So how’s it been going since I saw you….last week?” We had a good laugh over that one. As I moved on I heard her explain to another cast member what that was all about.
The floor finally got to me so I tapped out and went back to the room.
Dinner was with Mark Evenier and Maggie Thompson, which is one of my favorite SDCC traditions. Jokes were traded and stories told and a tale was started that might have an ending today so I will explain after it is done.
Went to bed as a reasonable hour for this convention.
Today is the last day of the convention. Monday we will be in LA and we fly out Tuesday for home.
