A week ago I was checking the forecast and I saw that we had some snow predicted for Monday (>1 inch) and Wednesday (1-3 inches). Some how that has turned into 24-36 inches from Monday into Wednesday as some things moved around in terms of high and low weather patterns giving us a potential Nor’easter with lots of snow. I think Boston is going to get slammed like it hasn’t been slammed since the late 60s.

Yesterday I went to the grocery store and picked up what I needed for my French toast kit (Bread, Milk, eggs). The store was pretty busy with people doing their regular Sunday shop. I talked to a manager I know and she said it was slightly busier but she was expecting that Monday morning was going to be the insane time and she was glad they were getting one more milk delivery before the storm hit.

Normally when we have this sort of dire weather news I take it with a grain of salt. The weather people love to hype the storms. However this time I have my neighbor who works for the National Weather Service who told me that he is not feeling good about this one and we might get more than predicted if the system does what he thinks it is going to do.

Today I plan to walk the property and secure anything that can get blown around. Then we are going to hunker down and wait this storm out.

I have plans for power or no power depending on the storm. Flashlights have batteries. We have lots of blankets and fuzzy socks.

Caroline went to school this morning for the first time since last Wednesday. She is gathering up her assignments and bring things home to work on for the next day or so to catch up on what she missed. She is happy to be going back to school and is, except a serious case of the sniffles, feeling pretty much herself again.

I’ll blog if I can. If not, I am sure I will have a tale or two to tell afterwards.

I am grateful for things that will make waiting out this storm easier.
