Pre Thanksgiving 2014 edition
Nov. 26th, 2014 08:13 amOr the day before because I almost forgot that this week was Thanksgiving. Shows you how much I am paying attention to the calendar.
Tomorrow is the American Holiday of Thanksgiving. We have decided, due to the amount of travel we have done this year and a few other things, to stay home. Finding a turkey that we won’t be eating until Christmas was a challenge but I succeeded in doing so. This morning I am braving the grocery story for the last couple of items I will need to get us to the weekend including milk.
We have weather moving in. There is a Nor’eastern that will basically hit above and behind us so all we are looking at is wet and wind. This will screw up the airports and the highways as everyone scrambles to get where they need to be tomorrow. I think the wind is going to be the bigger problem of the two.
I don’t plan on going anywhere on Friday. I have never really liked crowds and the insanity of that day is just getting worse. I also am going to patronize businesses that aren’t opening on Thursday in the evening. I know all the argument but still we really don’t need this sort of 24 hour retailing. I did have to go into Borders after Thanksgiving dinner more than once but that was to set up for the next day. I got time and a half and it was my choice. And I think that’s the big thing, it was my choice and right now a bunch of people don’t have a choice.
I am grateful I don’t have to be anywhere either Thursday or Friday.
