When Caroline has a day off from school and it is not on a Monday, the week gets a little weird. I had to look at a calendar to figure out that it was Friday the 14th of November which means that November is just about halfway done.

We finally got one of the cars back and went to see Big Hero 6. It is nice to be able to go places when we want and not have to plan a chunk of the day for where ever we need to go. Any way back to Big Hero 6, the film is a lot of fun and has real heart to it. This is one where you need to stay until the end for the post credit scene, which is set up a lot earlier in the film and is just wonderful. We left with smiles on our faces and a warm feeling in our hearts. I think big screen is a good idea because there is a lot of detail in the larger city scenes that is fun to look at. 3-D works but not a must see in 3-D film.

So today is restock the larder day that is rather bare. I have a couple of things I need to get done before we get to the weekend.

Amazon has sorted out with Hachette and a couple of other publishers so that’s good. Just in time for the Christmas shopping season.

Speaking of said season, I told Caroline that Christmas commercials and the like didn’t show up until after Thanksgiving. That the Macy’s Day parade ends with Santa and that’s the start of the season. She said she wished it were still like that. She doesn’t particularly care for Christmas before Halloween is even done. Her exception is my exception, which is crafts stores where, if you are making gifts, you need your supplies 3 to 4 months before the Holiday.

No more Doctor Who until Christmas except the children in need teaser.

I’m going to get started on my shortened week and get things moving around here.

I am grateful for the ability to sort out what day it is eventually.

Today is my father’s birthday.

I want the world to know how much I love him.

He has always been there for me and I can’t believe that was easy at times especially during my teen-age “you don’t understand me” years.

He has always encouraged me to be the best at whatever I was doing.

I love science and math because of my father. I never thought girls couldn’t do math because my father told me that I could do math and showed me how. He encouraged our love of science and math. I am trying to give Caroline the same feelings.

My love of theater comes from my father. When I was a child I loved a picture that is in the family album of my dad on stage. When I went into theater both of my parents encourage my career. They supported me going to the Yale School of Drama. My graduation present was a Hirschfeld print of the Phantom of the Opera that hangs over my desk. My father had to convince the framer to use the color scheme my father wanted for the matte.

I love Pogo and that’s thanks to my dad.

He introduced me to the classic science fiction and fantasy authors. We read the Hobbit together. I can still remember him reading me Wind in the Willows.

He was a busy man but he always has made time for his children and grandchildren and we are richer for it.

Happy Birthday Dad. I want you to know that I love and appreciate you.

I am grateful that my Da is my Da.
