A Caroline-less House
Jul. 12th, 2014 08:31 amOr a preview of the future, which doesn’t seem that far away.
Caroline is with eldest daughter Shana in Florida for the week. She did this last summer and had such a great time that we decided to try it again this summer.
Not having Caroline around during the day because she is in school is one thing but this is something else entirely.
Milk is lasting longer in the fridge.
I wake up about the same time but have to remember to turn off the alarm because Caroline isn’t here to do it.
Toys stay where I put them. Understand she is good about picking up her toys after she is done playing with them just some time there are short cuts or toys that she is still playing with so they are still out at the end of the day.
Less laundry.
Filtered water last longer.
Conversations are different. I miss my Caroline dream report or the strange question of the day.
And there is just the lack of her presence in the house. It is like we have to rebalance the energy for her absence.
Fewer Facebook entries (not necessarily a bad thing).
Her cat, Fig, is sticking to me like Velcro. Also Figgy keeps checking the front door and her bedroom door to see if Caroline emerges.
Less food to prepare at meal times.
No Caroline hugs or kisses.
I miss having her around but I know she is having fun. This is a good thing for her to do at her age.
I am grateful that Caroline does have these opportunities.
