Review for Muppets Most Wanted
Mar. 21st, 2014 12:03 pmLast night Caroline, Peter, and I went to see Muppets Most Wanted at the not midnight, midnight show, which is something that has been done recently with the movies that appeal to children. Having a midnight at a time that children can come to is a smart move both on the theaters and the producers parts.
I am trying to keep this review as spoiler free as I can but feel free to go nuts in the comments.
Sequels can be hard. The original sets the tone and the expectations.
I enjoyed it more than Peter did, but then I am a Muppet Maniac. Caroline had a great time too.
Overall it was a good sequel. It did assume that the viewer had seen the previous film or at least know the Muppet basics (as in who’s who). The cameos were not too blatant and some were so fast that you almost didn’t have time to register who it was.
It was the usual screwy Muppet madness with a plot. I do give them kudos for making things that happened at the beginning of the film. The heart of it feels like the Muppets rather than a film with Muppets.
There are things for the adults and things for the kids and enough of both to keep each amused.
I do think it needs to be seen on the big screen. There are some shots that need the scope. I am not sure about 3-D being needed. I suggest going sooner than later or a couple of nice surprises are going to be blown by the meme world.
I am grateful that we got to see the Muppets as a family.
