RTBTCKI Boy am I up early Edition
Mar. 20th, 2014 10:06 amOr rather late if I was in London. I got up at 5 AM because I was awake and started typing this. I am waiting for Caroline to get up so we can put the final touches on her science fair project.
A little bit later, Caroline is up and we finished the project. So that’s off my plate.
Mind is fuzzy and coffee is cutting it barely.
So totally random thoughts about the trip while fresh in my mind and if I repeat myself, I do apologize.
It was interesting being the odd accents at a convention. I had a couple of people try to figure out what part of the states I was from. Got a lot of guesses for Los Angeles. They were surprised I didn’t have any hint of a southern accent unless I was trying to do a southern accent.
I plan to do a whole convention(al) wisdom on all the cosplay I saw. I need a little time to process it all. I will say that there was a very strict anti-harassment policy posted all over the place and they enforced it.
I must say that everyone at the Tower of London, from the military personal to the guides, was very helpful.
Traffic is crazy in London. I don’t see how anyone can get around without banging into each other. Lorries went careening past so close I could see the rivets. There were a couple of times I thought, “This is it. We’re going to get into a crash.” But our driver pulled it out at the last minute. However I will compliment every driver on signaling. Everyone used their turn signals so there was no guessing what another driver was about to do.
We didn’t get to a West End Show but that was a smart decision considering how tired we were after running around the TARDIS.
We also have been come big fans of Wizards vs. Aliens having seen the first two episodes. We got to walk on both the spaceship and the magic cave. They were scouting sites for the 3rd season while we were at Cardiff. Good goofy kids fun and the title explains the whole series.
I did enjoy meeting all the fans at the convention. I was told that people really appreciated my updates last year about Peter. I told them I was grateful for all the good wishes and support we got from the fans. I did get to talk puppetry with some puppeteers that wandered through which was also fun.
British Airways was a nice way over and back. On the way back the plane was not crowded so we could spread out. The flight attendants were very attentive and there was always something to eat or drink if you asked. On the way over we mostly slept or rather Caroline did. She did the same on the way back. I must say that the personal entertainment centers do make the flight go by faster.
In London we stayed at the Doubletree in the West End. The room was small but serviceable. The location was perfect for getting around London. My only problem was breakfast and a language barrier that couldn’t be over come.
Mind is still working on getting the coffee to kick in. Might not be the best day for me to make decisions of any kind. I am feeling kind of punchy.
I am grateful for all the fun I had on our trip.
