A Rare Second Entry

Well some of my time came back so here is a rare second entry for the day. I have been asked why I don't post more than once a day considering how jam packed my days can be with fun stuff to post about. I just post once a day so I don't become obsessed with posting in my web log all the stuff that happens or that I am thinking about. Giving it a night's sleep gives me a chance to filter my day a bit and figure out what I really want to write about. Sometimes that gives me a blank slate in the morning and I stare at the computer screen wondering why I did make myself some notes of things I was thinking about.
Rosa Parks and Shirley Horn both passed away within the last week. Rosa Parks became a symbol for many and a rally point for one of the greatest movements in the 20th century. I hope that in the future we have to explain racism in the past tense like we explain slavery in America. Rosa Parks will live as a shining example of standing up for one's self in the face of injustice. Shirley Horn created her own style of jazz. Her piano work was always amazing to listen to but it was the voice that captivated me as a listener. I have heard others try to imitate her vocals but never quite made it. They both were classy ladies.
Where did the time come from? Well Mommy and Me was cancelled due to weather. The wind and the rain beating the house this morning didn't make me look forward to the drive to her play group but the owner called and said because of a number of weather related obstacles that she was canceling class this morning. Considering Caroline is just getting over bronchitis this is a good thing. The only downside is that it was picture day and she wanted to wear her pretty pink dress her grandma got her. She is still wearing the dress and I plan to take some pictures once I get the battery charged up.
Speaking of batteries, does anyone know where I can get a Mac iBook battery for a PowerBook4,3? My battery has died yet again. That makes my portable laptop very un-portable.
I had so many weird dreams last night. I can't remember anything that happened with any clarity except I remember waking up hearing Edward G. Robinson's voice echoing from a cloud saying, "Where's your god now Moses?" I haven't a clue why since I haven't seen the "Ten Commandments" anytime recently. It will be nice to get back into my regular sleep pattern.
I really enjoyed working on "Most Happy." The cast was great and it was fun connecting up with folks I haven't seen in 15 years. The UNYYC will be at Bennigan's for the rest of their fall season. There are some interesting shows on the schedule. I am submitting something for the spring season. More on that if they pick it.
I am grateful for second chances.

Date: 2005-10-25 02:48 pm (UTC)Put it in the freezer. Let it stay there. Cold will absolutely discharge the battery and "reset" the capacity back to what it was when it was new. THEN put it in your notebook and charge it.
See, the problem with many NiCads is that (as an example), you use half the power in the battery and then put it on the charger to get it back to 100%, but since only half the power was gone, it is now only "charging" from half it's full capacity. So instead of 4 hours, you now have 2. Keep doing that, and pretty soon you have only a few minutes power that can be "read" by the system. Put it in the freezer, and it completely discharges the power it has but cannot tap, and thus you can recharge it from the bottom instead of "topping it off" like your car gastank.
Failing the freezer, put it in a ziplock and stick it outside in below freezing weather. That WILL do it, but you will have to warm it up before sticking it in your PC.
