puppetmaker: (Peter David and Me)
One thing I have learned through everything that has happened this year is that not everything is, as it seems. I have to keep an eye on Peter to make sure that he is fine. I have to keep an eye on Caroline because she is 10 and dealing with a lot of stuff. I have to keep an eye on my own health.

I have been second guessing myself on various things. I am fortunate that I have a mother who is a nurse and can talk me through a lot of things. I have access to various doctors who can break things down pretty much to layman’s terms. And that is a comfort.

One of the biggest concerns post-stroke is that there is a greater possibility of another one and one spends the rest of one’s life trying to prevent that incident from happening.

Peter is still working hard at recovering. He is still improving. His motor coordination is improving slowly but there is marked improvement. Fine motor skills are what he has to work on the hardest. He has most of his gross motor skills under control.

So I keep a watchful eye on him and on Caroline. I contrast and compare behaviors to pre-stroke behaviors on both their parts.

It is not easy but it is something I have to do for my family.

This weekend we are going to go visit Peter’s family in Connecticut. It will be the first time they have seen him since last year.

Then we start getting ready for both Passover and Easter.

Today is going to be a quiet one I think. I need a day to sort through things and get myself ready for the next set of THINGS THAT MUST BE DONE.

And I will keep my watchful eye on everything around me to make sure that everything is OK.

I am grateful to everyone who has given me information that has helped in this situation.
