DragonCon 2010 Day 1
Sep. 4th, 2010 10:19 amIn which we started out at a leisurely pace but ran a marathon at the end of the day.
DragonCon is a convention of many parts. It is also held in 5 hotels now. There is probably something for everyone at just about any point in the day going into the wee hours of the Morning.
So Thursday we dropped Caroline off at my folks and had dinner with them and my sister Sheila. We came back and I went out to see some friends. I ran into them and more people I hadn’t seen in a while including some of our fellow Armageddon Expo buddies.
Friday was, for me, the costuming day. I had a panel on judging costumes and then was the head Judge for the Workmanship Contest. Hardest Contest ever. There wasn’t a single costume that won’t have won something for workmanship at any other convention and many would have had other awards as well. We managed to make our decisions but none of them were easy. My fellow judges were great and very helpful. And I salute all the contestants for showing off the best of the best to us. Y’all were great.
I vapor locked on a panel I was on (Sorry Bev) after that. My brain was kinda wrung out by that point.
Today I have just a couple of things I need to do but most of my time is my own. Caroline is having a great time with her grandparents. Peter is having a great time with the fans. And I am having a lot of fun as well.
I am grateful that we came to this year’s DragonCon
