Seeing Disney on Ice on Ice
Nov. 15th, 2009 03:12 pmLast week we decided to take Caroline to see the latest Disney on Ice Show. The last one she had been to had been at least 2 if not 3 years ago. She saw the commercial and said in a rather wistful voice, “I wish I could see that.”
Peter went on-line to see what tickets were available. We found some nice seats and purchased them. We thought we were a couple of rows back but close to the ice. Boy, were we wrong.
We got to the Nassau Coliseum a bit early because there was no traffic but they opened the gates an hour before showtime. We parked in a nice parking place near the doors and walked inside. After poking about a bit, we went in to sit down. The first usher sent us down to the next usher where we figured our seats were. She sent us all the way down to another usher who lead us to our front row seats right next to the ice. I didn’t figure out until intermission, we were ON the ice.
Caroline has an unobstructed view of the whole ice show. We were on the side but it didn’t matter since we got to see the skaters as they came on. And we could see all the dance numbers. Caroline wore her Jasmine outfit that she wore for Halloween. She got compliments from other little girls and she complimented their outfits as well. One little girl wanted to know if Caroline’s braid was a real so Caroline yanked on it to prove it was part of her head.
During the show, she showed Jasmine that she was wearing the same outfit as the skater. Which amused the skater and her partner. She blew a kiss to Caroline while she was skating off at one point. Caroline also enjoyed the pieces of The Princess and the Frog that they showed at the ice show. The characters from the film had a couple of pieces set up to introduce the kids to the new film.
It was the usual silly ice show with lots of Disney characters. They even got in “How does she know” from Enchanted in there. Caroline was entranced and watched with either her mouth open in amazement or a big grin from ear to ear. It was a wonderful experience for her. Peter and I had fun watching her watch the show.
I am grateful that Caroline had such a good time at Disney on Ice.
