RTBTCKI (Almost outta here edition)
Oct. 11th, 2009 08:52 amI know I am not going to the moon so I am hoping that I have some sort of Internet connection in Melbourne and Auckland that won’t cost me an arm and a leg. But this blog might go quiet for a week or so. I plan on keeping a journal of our adventures (which, honestly, this web log has been for other adventures) and post as I can. Caroline is looking forward to this trip and she is even bringing a costume or two to wear at the conventions.
Yesterday Caroline spent a majority of the day with her big sister. They went to a street fair together and to see the Toy Story Marathon, which they both enjoyed. They are having a sleepover in Ariel’s room right now. Caroline doesn’t want to let Ariel out of her sight if she can help it. Today I think Ariel is going to be catching up with some friends but I think she plans to do it this evening when Caroline is in bed. Ariel is being great about making time for her little sister.
I got to hear the Ohio State game as ESPN played the more local game. Why OSU? Because that’s where my parents met and that was where I was born so I have a soft spot for the football team. The stats on that game are pretty amazing. Special teams won it for the Buckeyes.
So the Dodgers clinched in three and the Phillies vs. the Rockies game got snowed out. Welcome to October baseball. Angels might sweep the Red Sox and the Yankees look like they are going to sweep the Twins. And the networks are praying for a Dodgers vs. Yankees series and terrified of a Dodgers vs. Angels or a Rockies vs. Angels for the World Series.
I watched Underworld: Rise of the Lycans last night with Peter. We watched it because of Bill Nighy and Michael Sheen both very fine actors who really got to chew some scenery both figuratively and literally. It did wrap around nicely into the first Underworld movie. Rumor has it that they are working on a fourth one. Honestly I don’t see where they can really go with it at this point. But maybe they will budget a bit more for lighting since it is very hard to see what is going on in the film.
Today I am all about Laundry. Tomorrow I need to finish up errands and make sure everything is set up for our cat sitter. Then Tuesday we start on our adventure. There is no Wednesday for us next week. We go from Tuesday to Thursday and I don’t think we pick it back up when we come back. I feel little like one of the Doctor’s companions in this.
Now I need to make sure I have all of the stuff that Caroline needs including a set of headphones that are made for children or at least a set I can turn the volume down on. I also have to repack our power converters. I seem to be doing a lot of packing and unpacking these days.
I am grateful to teachers who take the extra step and understand that learning can happen outside of the classroom.
