Foggy Bottom
Dec. 28th, 2008 09:16 amThere is an episode of West Wing in which the character of C. J. gets emergency root canal and comes back with all the swelling that you get when you have root canal. She is, of course, teased by her fellow employees including a very unsympathetic Josh who tells her that another character is in Foggy Bottom. She asks why Toby is in Foggy Bottom. Josh says that he is not but he wanted to hear her to say Foggy Bottom.
Anyway, it is very foggy this morning. I can't see to the next block and we have short blocks. I can only think of once or twice when it was so bad I couldn't see across the street. I am hoping that it will be lifting soon. It feels like I am walking through water when I go outside.
The trip back was not too bad. There was not as much traffic as when we went down so the trip was three hours shorter. I think having the trip back shorter than the trip down is the better way to go.
We had considered going into the city today to look at the windows and other holiday sights but the fog and rain and the fact that we were in the car a chunk of yesterday is bring us to the conclusion that a quiet day at home is just what we need. If it were sunny, I think we would do it but who wants to walk around NYC in wet shoes? Also Caroline has a stuffy nose and a cough so I think she needs today to regroup and heal up.
Besides there is lots of good football on today. Many playoff spots are coming down to these games.
I hope everyone is having a good holiday time. Mine has been pretty spiffy so far.
I am grateful that we made it home safely and with minimum traffic problems.
