DragonCon 2008 Saturday
Aug. 31st, 2008 12:13 pmIn which I had a lot of fun.
I had a number of panels yesterday kind of spread out between the various hotels so I got some good walking in. All went well I think. The only solo panel I do is the Puppet one for the Art show. I had a good turn out but not the full house I had last year. No bids on the puppets or dolls which I plan to offer here on this very blog if they don't sell. But I think people are trying to low-ball and waiting for the auction time to close in.
I met some interesting people. I finally after many years got to tell Lance Hendrickson that I though he was an actor's actor and I have enjoyed his varied performances over the years. I have told younger actors to watch his films to learn how to play the subtle emotions of a character rather than just screaming lines. Peter told him that he thought that Mr. Hendrickson's portrayal in the episode of Beauty and the Beast TV series entitled "Snow" gave Peter an idea of how the Terminator would have been if Hendrickson had been cast as the Terminator. He seemed very pleased with both comments.
We did the banquet and Peter presented the Julie Award to Mickey Dolenz. I re-acquainted myself with Laurell K. Hamilton and her husband. It was nice to be able to talk to her for a bit without fans hovering. I love fans, I truly do but if we step off the beaten path to talk for a minute or are eating a meal away from the convention, please take that as a clue that we might just want a few minutes to ourselves.
I have been signing autographs more at this convention than I have before. I have been scribbling in both the program book and in the Doctor Who book. It is kinda fun but still feels a little weird.
Then last night was Doc Whoopee's party. I had fun and got to talk to a few people I hadn't seen yet at the convention. Sean always throws a good party and this one was no exception.
So a good day over all.
I am grateful I was able to tell one of my favorite actors thank you.
