Caroline came to Peter last night and told him that her tummy hurt. He put her in his lap and she snuggled up and fell asleep. Shortly after getting her up to her room he heard her start to cough and then the night of up-chucking began. We thought after the first time that it was the fact that she had been sneaking potato chips during the Super Bowl last night but after the second time it was pretty obvious that this was some form of stomach bug that had invaded my little girls GI tract.
So Peter let me sleep and he stayed up with her all night. Helping her to vomit by holding a pot under her chin and talking very reassuringly to her and making sure that afterward she drank some water so she would not get dehydrated. The water seems to be making a reappearance about an hour after she drinks it. Crossing fingers that this time it seems to be staying down longer. About 4 AM Caroline told Peter that her tummy didn't hurt anymore. Which is a good sign since she is a very body aware child but she was still throwing up. I'm hoping that whatever this is, it leaves her system soon.
So I am sitting here with her on the other couch sleeping which is probably the best thing for her right now. The longer she sleeps and doesn't toss her cookies the better.
Super Bowl Thoughts (Or my last chance to Monday Morning Quarterback until next season)
Man I thought the Bears were going to make this a much closer game than they did. That first kick-off return looked beautiful and it seemed like during the first half of the game that this was going to be a battle of the titans. Both teams looked good. At the half the odds against the Bears were not insurmountable. Then in the second half it was all Colts. They really tap danced on the Bears.
Part of it I really think had to do with field conditions. The more water there was on the field the more slippery things got. Everyone was soaked. I felt very sorry for the referees who didn't have a chance to come off the field and wring out their socks. The referees were trying to keep the ball in some sort of playing condition by wiping it off after every play and keeping it under something until it was needed. All the challenges made by each team were good ones. Each time it was a key play that could have changed the momentum (or did). And the referees did a good job of play calling the entire game. They are in a tough situation there.
Overall pretty good game.
I have a feeling that this one is going to be nicknamed "The Rain Bowl".
I think my two favorite commercials were Ultra Garmin vs Maposaurs and "He's got an axe." There were a number of clever ones there. I didn't see an Apple one but early in the game I was getting our Super Bowl nosh together and didn't see all the commercials. Peter did and did a running commentary on them on his blog (peterdavid.net).
Yes, I did see the Cirque du Soliel piece right before the introduction of the teams. Peter and I could tell that the poor director for CBS didn't know which camera view to show us considering all that was going on at the time. Ariel kept yelling at the set to stop showing the band and just show us the performers. To which I pointed out that the band members were performers too. She wanted to see another angle on the Russian Swing which we never saw except the time that they got it to go totally around which is VERY hard to do. It was very colorful and a lot of fun to watch on TV and must have been one heck of a spectacle in person.
I am so grateful to my husband for taking care of our daughter last night. I love you so much Peter for more ways than I can count.
