A Day Off

We watched through most of the extras on the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest including about 5 Easter eggs. For costumers who want to do Jack's costume the two disk is a must buy or rent. There is an entire section called Captain Jack: head to toe and it goes over the entire costume with much detail including that elusive look at the back of Jack's wig. I was much closer than I thought I was. Now I know what I would need to tweak to really get the costume closer.

Took yesterday off for the most part. Just a mental day to reset my brain a bit. Well that and I had the migraine from heck the whole day so thinking was not my best option. I hadn't had one in quite a while and this one was a doozie. Not the worst I have had in my life but now I remember why I hate migraines so much. It took me until this morning to get my head ache down to a dull roar which will probably hang around for a couple of days and then go away.

I have a few things I want to get done and a couple that need to get done today. I think I can handle it.

I think the web log mining for publication is slowing down and I expect that it will probably fade away to next to nothing within the next year. There will be exceptions but for the most part that literary feeding frenzy is over. Publishers are finding it harder to market the books than they thought and a number haven't seen print due to legal tangles that have to be sorted out before the book can be published. The internet is big and noisy but that does not translate into sales. For an example I give you the movie Snakes on a Plane which had great buzz on the internet but very poor ticket sales even with Samuel L. Jackson appearing on just about every talk show to talk about it. Now they are hoping that the DVD sales will make up the short fall. I know that is a film but fewer people buy books than see movies and web logs really don't ping their radar. I know that in the young adult category I have seen more books formatted like a web log or diary but I don't think that will translate to more of these kinds of books in the fiction section. I could see some more of this sort of thing in the romance section since reading someone's diary makes one feel a little bit like a voyeur.

I am grateful for the dull roar in my head rather than feeling like the 7 dwarves are trying to bang their way out of my skull.

2006 first sentence Meme

Here is how this one works. You go through your journal for the past year and post the first sentence from your first entry of the month. Gives you a fun look at the year.

Jan. 2006-> First things first.

Feb. 2006 -> I feel like Monster House.

March 2006-> I awoke to my foot throbbing which is bad since it was getting better.

April 2006-> Sorry this is so late y'all but I have been spending time with my parents this weekend.

May 2006-> On May 1st I always listen to Julie Andrews singing "The Lusty Month of May" from Camelot.

June 2006-> I have 10 minutes to write this before I go onto the next cleaning project to get the house ready for visitors this weekend and next week.

July 2006-> Peter got me the Doctor Who boxed set last night.

August 2006-> I first read David Gemmell on the insistence of a gaming buddy.

September 2006-> Well a little bit of sleep later and we're off and running once we leave the room until we have to change rooms because they screwed up our reservation.

October 2006-> Since Sci-Fi decided to show two episodes back to back, I will review them back to back.

November 2006-> Once everything was set-up, it was a lot of fun.

December 2006-> I got the truck back yesterday.
