Caroline and I spent most of yesterday morning outside with the sidewalk chalk making up stories with pictures all over the driveway. Caroline came in with a very colorful face where she has wiped it with the chalk on her hands. This morning she is coloring with her Crayola Wonder Markers and the special paper that activated them. She is doing really well at staying within the lines. I can remember when I was her age or just a little older that one of the little girls I occasionally played with had these wonderful books that you would use water to paint with. The paint was already on the page and activated by the water. This is one step further. The markers don't work on anything but a specially treated paper but unlike the paint color that is set, the child can choose what color they want to color things. She really likes to draw and color.
World Cup I know I haven't commented on it yet but I have been following it. I was waiting for the Americans to play and hoping for a win but ending up with a very big loss with a team that just couldn't get it done. I am also cheering for Poland which lost its first game to Ecuador. Maybe I shouldn't cheer for anyone since my American football influence seems to be taking over. I am predicting that one of the South American Teams is going to walk away with the cup. Brazil is looking pretty solid.
I have started on what I am going to call the DW project. I found my patterns and materials to make the 10 bodies I need for the set. I have also started 4's scarf because that does take a while to do. I need to look at getting doll wigs for hair this time. I will say that the internet has come a long way in 10 years as has my computer. 10 years ago my computer screen was black and white. Now I have color. 10 years ago the speed at which you could download was much slower than today. I can find images much easier thanks to Google and other search engines. Also fan sites make it easier to find reference material. I had to go off my Dr. Who weekly and monthly magazines and a bunch of trading cards along with videos (No DVDs existed then) of the good Doctor.
We are off on a day trip tomorrow to see "Lil Abner" at the Goodspeed Opera House. This is Peter's early Father's Day present. We did this a number of years ago when they produced "Man of La Mancha" before Caroline was born. So I think I am going to be knitting in the car on the way up and back.
I am grateful for art materials for Caroline.
