I'll take Potpourri for 200 Alex
May. 3rd, 2006 09:19 amThere are a number of subjects I thought about talking about today. A couple of them are hot button issues for me including this whole immigration mess that is coming to a head after more than 10 years of steam behind it but that sounds more like something for Peter's blog since I tend to stay away from the politics. Besides I probably ticked off enough people on a couple of lists I'm on with my comments about the situation. I'll just go on record saying that there are no simple answers to these questions and problems. There is no black and white to this issue. I think everyone has a point of view and a personal history attached to that point of view.
I thought about talking about the rather quiet way that retailers are acknowledging the fact that some people (now many) were more than a size 10 or 12. I remember my mother once telling me that for every $100 a dress costs, your dress size drops a number. There still is no standard for women's clothing. Men's clothing is pretty standard but compare a dress size by two different manufactures and one dress will fit and the other won't. And men wonder why we spend so much time trying on clothing. Not because we want to (OK some of us do) but we have to because even if we get something in our size we still don't know if it is going to fit.
I though about talking that New York City was almost 20 degrees warmer than Long Island yesterday. We had rain and cold and they had sunshine. Once you went into Queens the lovely weather went away. So everyone to the west is having a nice sunny day while we are looking at showers and wind. Good day to stay in and get something done. The pollen has not really lessened since the downpour yesterday. The wind keeps whipping it around. *atchooo*
I thought about talking about a couple of projects I am working on but a couple of them are still under wraps for now. I am now unsure about Shoreleave and whether I will be making costumes for that. I really should sort that out. I'm still waiting to hear about DragonCon. They had a software glitch that was finally sorted out so now all of us are waiting to find out what will happen next.
I thought about talking about that Caroline had sorted out what coloring books are for. Her buddy Katie showed her how they worked and Caroline is now having grand fun coloring her My Little Pony coloring book. She is coloring all the ponies purple and using other colors for the flowers and scenery. She is very focused in her "work". Not bad about staying within the line too.
I thought about writing up my costuming rant but that will have to wait for another day. I have a little girl who wants me to color with her.
I am grateful for coloring books.
