I actually have a few minutes before I have to go catch my train into the city. Today is the last day of the Froud doll making class. Toby is going to join us today. He is working on his final project for college and will graduate this year. Yes, this is the child that was in the movie "Labyrinth" as the baby Toby. But if you think about it the movie came out in 1986 so that was 20years ago. Hard to believe so much time has passed. Wendy said that the whole family will be at San Diego this year as well as a couple of fairy festivals. She also confirmed that the older Kira image that is going around the web is her work specifically for the new film.
I made hands yesterday that look like hands. If you know my work and me you know how much I HATE making hands and will come up with just about anything to avoid it. My hands never looked like hands. But Wendy is a good teacher and she was finally able to show/explain to me how to make my hands look like hands. I did a couple of feet too rather than making boots so I didn't have to make feet. Getting out of my comfort zone as an artist is part of the reason that I take the class. Wendy is kind but honest about what she sees and she is a really good teacher but no punched pulled if she doesn't like something or knows you can do better. No slacking off in this course allowed.
I also picked up some new tools to work with. I recommend the Compleat Sculptor without reservation (www.scuplt.com) and they are very efficient in their shipping. They have stuff for just about anything you want to sculpt in just about any sculpting medium. It is also one of the few places I know I can get straight acetone which I need for polymer clay work.
Of course I took lots of pictures and plan to take some more today. I'll probably post them and some Caroline pictures later this week.
