What is OOAK?
Feb. 4th, 2006 10:20 amGrey morning. The Sun is a promise in the clouds. I think this is going to burn off and be a pretty nice day.
I got the first part of the felting done. Now I have to wait for it to dry before moving onto part two. There is plenty else to be done but I need to get this piece finished before I can do another part of the outfit. These things have to be done in order.
I am now confused by a term I first heard in doll circles and now have seen in other places. The term is OOAK which stands for "One Of A Kind". Which I thought meant that this was the only one that was made of that item. On Ebay I keep seeing the same sculpted items over and over listed as OOAK. Now each was hand made and there are probably small variations but I would call these things limited edition rather than one of a kind. Especially if they are making dolls and sculpts based on film characters.
On to the next part of the costume.
I am grateful that the mask dried out overnight.
