Rinse and Repeat yesterday morning. Caroline got up and wanted Mama. Millie got into the room therefore Caroline came in and much fun ensued on the bed for a bit. I love morning giggles. They can get me going better than a hot cup of coffee. The weather we encountered in Ohio has now arrived here in New York. Last night was a gully washer and this mornings mist sticks to you when you step outside the door.
We are doing a "Dora the Explorer" themed party. I have a few activities for the kids to do and have fun with. I have the goodie bags sorted out. I ordered the cake and the balloons for Saturday. Now all I have to do is make the house presentable to all concerned. It will get done.
Where did November go? It was just Halloween I swear it. Now the holiday times are upon on and I am going to leap from the Party to getting ready for the end of next month (December). Ah well. At least I am not bored.
There has been a lot of talk in various places I look and listen to about the FCC loosening the restrictions on cable TV and the practice of bundling. In fact they are advocating that one should be allowed to only pay for the channels that one wants rather than the whole cable system or package. The idea behind it is one I really despise which is "we should do it for the children." Parents shouldn't have to pay for objectionable content is the cry. The industry considers this a spectacularly bad idea and I have to agree. Bundling allows channels to exist that many enjoy but not enough to make a subscriber base that would support the channel. Peter thinks if this thing shakes out the way it might we will be left with the local channels and sports and that's about it. Might be a way to stop watching the idiot box or go exclusively to DVDs for a long time. Interestingly a gentleman who runs a Christian network out in the South-West agrees that this would be bad for him. He pointed in out in the rush to get rid of objectionable content by picking ones channels, he very will could find himself off cable due to lack of subscribers. I thought this whole rating the shows and allowing one to block either ratings levels or channels via the remote control was suppose to address this non-problem. I do hope that if this idiocy is allowed to continue that the cable channel will be able to set two price scales. One for those of us who really don't mind bundling even if we only watch 30 out of the 300 channels we have access to which would be a lower fee and a premium price for those who want to pick and choose plus a fee every time they want to add a channel. The FCC is going to take public comment on the issue and I am going to tell them what I think. I suggest you do the same even if you disagree with me because this is fine example of why this country is great.
