Thanksgiving 2005
Nov. 24th, 2005 09:17 amToday is about trying to do two things at once. Celebrating Thanksgiving whilst (and at the same time) getting ready to go to a convention. I hope that this Thanksgiving is a healthy and happy one for you and yours.
The weather cooperated and we received rain rather than snow which is much easier to drive in. I do have to pack our woolies because it is about 20 degrees colder in Ohio than it is in New York. So I have my seasonal dig through the closets to find our winter garb.
The Thanks list again in no particular order
1) I am thankful that Shana is in my life. She has grown up to be a wonderful confident young lady. Her voice has always amazed me. I will always carry in my head the concert I heard her sing up in Boston for a final. I then took her and a friend out for so much sushi I think we all thought our guts were going to explode. Her piano playing is wonderful too. She has worked hard and now has a job that she loves in a city that she enjoys.
2) I am thankful that Gwen! is in my life. She works very hard to achieve her goals and I admire her for that. I was so proud that she served an internship at the Cloisters this summer. Her love for art is evident when you hear her talk about a variety of subjects. She has combined her love of baking and art into some really interesting pieces. She is very creative at so many things. She makes these great patchwork pocketbooks from scraps of cloth that are works of art. She has a really good eye for color.
3)I am thankful that Ariel is in my life. She is growing up so fast. She is such a big help with Caroline. She has become a very good bowler in a short period of time. She reads a lot of books covering all kinds of genres and subjects. She is a good person and cares for her friends. She loves to go to conventions and met people. She is a good people person. She is a lot of fun to have around.
4) I am thankful that Peter is in my life. I don't think I have the words to describe how much he means to me. He is supportive of all that I do or try. He is a good provider for his family. He loves us all very much. I love just talking with him. We never run out of things to talk about. We are both fannish from way back and love the same sorts of television and movies. We can discuss things he is working on and he will bounce ideas off of me and sometime I have ideas for him. I love my husband with all my heart and all my soul.
5) I am thankful that Caroline is in my life. In so many ways she changed my life. I became a Mommy with her birth and now have all those super Mommy powers. It is so much fun seeing the world from her point of view. The "Small World" ride doesn't seem as inane when you ride it with a two year old. Just seeing her wonder and enjoy the simple things in life changes how you look at things. Things that seemed so important now seem less so. Every day I learn something new from her.
I am grateful for my family including my extended family.
