Father’s Day at the David household was very nice. Peter and I went to see Batman Begins while Ariel babysat Caroline. Peter took the girls to Build-A-Bear and they built bears. Caroline really got into it which is a contrast from a year ago when we went to make Elmo. She hadn’t a clue what was going on then. At then end of the process the kids get to name their bears and get a “birth certificate” that is useful to hold onto because if you lose the bear and someone turns it into Build a Bear, they can check their computer and get the bear back to its owner.

Peter was typing the information into the computer and asked, “Caroline, what is the name of your bear?” Caroline looked at him a bit puzzled. “What’s the bear’s name?” asked Peter again.

Caroline pointed to the bear and said, “Ah-bee.”

“Ah-bee?” asked Peter.

Caroline nodded and repeated, “Ah-bee.” Peter typed it in for the bear’s name and she has been calling that bear specifically Ah-bee.

Caroline had sorted out nodding yes and shaking her head no. This is making it much easier to communicate with her and have her let us know her wishes. We are still having the terrible 2 melt downs when she doesn’t get her way but then she is two.

We picked up a few more raw materials for the costumes. This week I have the goal of finishing 3 of the costumes and 4 costumes worth of props. We’ll see what happens. I have a little more shopping to do for the props.

I am not happy with some of the new policies on e-bay. Apparently you can take your feedback private so the buyer can only see the total number rather than the individual comments. I find the individual comments very helpful in deciding which object I might bid on especially if there are several available around the same time. If someone has negative feedback, you can’t find out why they have it anymore if they don’t allow the comments to be seen. I just finished a transaction on E-Bay that concerns me since the bidder against me was listed as “private” and after the auction the whole auction went “private.” Personally I think that the price might have been jacked up artificially but I will never know since I will never know who I was bidding against. Then there is this new website that allows you to snipe at the last second. So far E-bay has done nothing to stop the use of this website allowing someone to grab something at a point where the high bidder doesn’t have a chance to up their bid. There are alternatives that are starting to pop up but most people look to E-Bay to bid. Sort of like the domination of Amazon in the on-line book market.

I am grateful for the fun I had yesterday with my family.
