Catching Up
Jun. 10th, 2005 07:48 amGwen! came by for a short visit yesterday. She has gotten a highly prized internship at the Cloisters this summer which starts Monday. We did some shopping for work clothes and caught up on news from both sides. I am very proud of her for getting this job for the summer. This also means we might see her more often this summer than the previous couple.
Ariel had lots of fun at Hershey Park. Her favorite ride was the Frontier Flyers out of the ones she could convince her group to go on. Apparently the others were not the thrill seeker that Ariel is. She had a lot of fun and remembered to take Suntan lotion so she would not get sunburned. She was one of the few so it was shared among the group. She returned with very large candy bars for the family tired but happy.
Caroline experienced the fun of the skinned knee on Tuesday. She tripped on the asphalt of the driveway while running and ripped up her left knee. I cleaned it up, put on a little anti-bacterial cream, and a band-aid. The band-aid came off because she took it off. I tried to convince her to keep it on but she would have not of it. Wednesday it was looking a little weepy and red. I clean it up again and told her that a band-aid would make the boo-boo feel better and Mommy can only kiss this boo-boo if there is a band-aid on it. She nodded and allowed me to put a band-aid on her knee. I then kissed it lightly. She kept the band-aid on all day. I took it off for bed to let the wound breath a bit. This morning she showed me her boo-boo and said “band-aid?” I put another band-aid on the boo-boo and gave it a kiss. It looks much better than it did yesterday morning.
The next couple of days are going to be busy ones. We are going to my niece’s birthday party on Saturday, Sunday Ariel has to go observe conformation at her temple, Monday Peter and Ariel are going to go see a sneak of “Batman Begins” while I have bowling, Tuesday we have really good tickets to a Ducks game, and Wednesday we come up for air.
I am debating about going into the city this evening for an event down at St. Ann’s Warehouse but am thinking it could be really neat. They are doing a Toy Theater exhibit and performances. This is something I have heard about and seen a couple in toy museums but it would be cool to see what others are doing with the art form. This all depends on how my dental surgery goes today. If my face is not up to showing itself in public, I am going to stay home. The festival does run for 10 days. The advantage of today is some people I know are going to be going to the exhibit.
Costumes are starting to go forward. I am working on a jacket today that I hope to get cut out and mostly assembled. I also want to start on some paper-mache work that needs to be done but it may be a bit humid for it. Also there are those pesky pictures I keep talking about. We’ll see how much I can do or want to do today. I am playing it by ear.
I am grateful that Caroline realizes that band-aids make boo-boos feel better so she stopped taking them off.
