A little bit of catching-up
May. 22nd, 2005 09:15 amRainy Sunday morning this morning. The kind of morning that you curl up with either a good book or the newspaper and a cup of coffee and forget the world outside. According to the forecast this is the weather we are going to have for the next five days. The positive on this is that the grass could really use the rain at this point.
Class went well yesterday. We reviewed our previous work and then taped our homework assignment. We had a guest speaker to give us another view on puppetry. I had to leave a little early so I am going to have to get the homework assignment from one of my classmates.
Muppets’ Wizard of Oz was not the best Muppet special ever made nor was it the worst. It had some good moments and some not so good. Over all the puppetry was pretty good. The jokes were a bit hit or miss with some topical ones that will probably not stand the test of time. One of the nice things about it was that they used some parts of the book that haven’t been used before. The shoes are silver in the book. The wearing of the green glasses so that they can see Oz correctly is there. The Wizard appeared in different forms to each person was in the book. I do like that they go through all the things the Wicked Witch threw at Dorothy in the book and there was a reason she (Piggy) couldn’t use them. I so want a Flying Monkeys motorcycle jacket.
Revenge of the Sith was not bad. There were fewer cringe worthy moments than the previous two. It does have the impressive space battles and some good lightsaber duels. It is a large screen movie if you have access to one. There were a few things that do really make this a PG-13 movie so for parents I will say there is intense violence, gore, and implied violence to children. We watched New Hope last night and it does hang together pretty well due to Sir Alec Guinness’ performance which can now be interpreted to match Episode III.
The job interview was one of the most fun I have ever had on an interview. It felt good and I know I can do the job. I was given some “homework” to prove that I can do it in a timely fashion. I should have a better idea where that is heading in about a week or so.
Someone stepped on the back of my ankle on Friday. They did apologize for it but the damage is done. I have an open sore on the back of my right ankle which hurts like crazy. Unfortunately it is showing signs of infection too. I have put neosporine on the cut but I don’t have a pair of shoes I can wear right now comfortably. A band-aid doesn’t cut it since this is right at the point where the top of my shoe goes. So the next couple of days are going to be interesting to say the least.
I am grateful that the damage wasn’t worse.
