TV and aprons
Mar. 8th, 2005 08:14 amLast night we watched Fat Actress with Kirstie Alley. Over all it was pretty funny in a sad sort of way. It really points out Hollywood stereotypes and attitudes. Kirstie can’t get a TV series or Movie because she is too fat according to the unwritten code of Hollywood. However Jason Alexander and John Goodman can get not one but two failed series and still have development contracts. There are also some non-PC references to people who like large cabooses among other things. There is really not much in the whole show that is PC, which is probably why it is on Showtime. We plan to see the next episode.
I introduced Peter and Ariel to Sapphire and Steel which they both enjoyed the first two episodes of the first show. I really enjoyed this show when I discovered it back in the 80s. It is nice that it held up over time. This was a TV series that you either loved or hated. There was no middle ground to it.
We have rain this morning that is suppose to turn over to snow and ice with high winds later this afternoon/evening. Then there is a prediction of snow on Thursday or Friday. Almost mid-March and we are still getting quite a bit of snow. I am hoping that we don’t have this sort of weather next week.
I finished the alterations on Ariel’s dress for the play. Today I go to try to teach a bunch of kids how to operate a light board and make it look good. I am also going to try to finish 6 aprons for the girls who are not the daughters.
I am grateful to Bill Ritch for showing me Sapphire and Steel and so many other good British TV shows.
