We went to the Broadway Bear auction last night. It was nice catching up with some people we see about once a year. The Bears were fabulous as always. There were a number of them with historically accurate costumes, which were splendid to look at. We didn’t get any this year. The few we had interest in went for big bucks that is a good thing for the charity but not as great for us. For the most part the bears looked great but this year there were fewer that meant something to us. There were a number of celebrities at the auction including Mickey Dolenz formerly of the Monkees. That was really cool for me considering how much I loved that band when I was young. He sang a parody of “I’m a Believer” titled “I’m a Collector” and got the audience involved in the backup vocals. It was a fun night for all.

You can see pictures of the bears at the site.

The ride home was a long one due to a snowstorm. The road conditions went from bad to worse as we crept our way home. This included a large number of SUVs with an apparent death wish considering how they were driving. We woke up this morning to about 6 inches of snow on the ground and freezing rain to top everything off. This makes all the things I was going to do today for various projects kind of moot unless I really want to shovel out the driveway. So I went into the freezer and figured out what I am going to make for dinner from the few things I have left at this point. We do have enough milk for the family to last until tomorrow when the roads will be clear and dry again. I am going to work on straightening the living room and a bit more on a doll. The plus side about Presidents’ Day is that I don’t have to worry about the mailman and the front steps until tomorrow.

I am grateful that I went to Broadway Bears 2005.
