Baby It's Cold Outside
Jan. 23rd, 2005 08:20 amThey say Blizzard conditions may occur. I say that I occasionally can’t see the house across the street due to the blowing snow. It is still snowing but the wind is adding a whole other set of variables to the picture. I am not going out to get the morning newspaper which might be buried out there somewhere. I am not going to shovel the walk since with the wind it is an exercise in futility. Last night at 10:00pm I heard one of my neighbors out with is snow blower clearing his walk and driveway. I look at his house this morning when the wind dies down and it is no different than any of the other houses that didn’t try to make a little headway in their shoveling. The plows are coming through but they are leaving a track that is being filled in with the wind. They have given up on plowing the whole street and are going for a car width down the middle. I did get to watch a Hummer spin out which was fun. They had to get out and remove the car from the snow bank it came to rest it. By the time they finished they were covered in the snow that the wind was whipping around.
OK so my mutant ability to keep snow away by being prepared didn’t work too well this time. We did watch Fellowship of the Ring last night and plan to take on the Two Towers after everyone gets up. Since the power and cable lines are covered with ice and snow I am betting we lose one or both before the winds let up. I took pictures yesterday and plan to continue today. We weren’t planning on going anywhere today anyway and it’s a good thing too. I am not going to even try to shovel anything until this storm is over which might be by tomorrow. If it continues like this most of the day I expect that school will be cancelled Monday to give everyone a day to dig out of the storm.
So today I am going to work on my doll body for the Round Robin and possibly my Spring Doll for the Spring Doll Challenge. If I can find my clay which I think may be out in my studio I might get some sculpting done. If the clay is not in the house then I won’t. I need to get some stuff together for the DragonCon Art Show since it is juried. I can send them a website link which would be fine by me. I just need more examples of my work to show them. LunaCon is not happening since it is the same weekend as Ariel’s play this year so I will hope for next year.
