Happy Yule

To my friends and readers who celebrate the Winter Solstice and/or Yule, a happy day to you. As of today Winter has officially begun. Around here I think it started up a day or two early with a rather harsh artic blast. I can feel the cold seeping off the windows and into the living room.

Our New Years plans changed a bit due to the fact that the venue we wanted to go to changed the rules a few years ago and made the party 21 and over only. This was news to many of us. So we rethought the situation and went with an alternative that I like a lot. I personally think Caroline is going to be asleep before midnight but with her you never know.

So today is more of the same in terms of getting ready to go on a trip. I am making sure my AAA membership is up to date and all my other ducks are lined up. I have been making lists and checking them twice. I pulled a few obscure things we need out of the corners of the house. Next is to sort out the driving DVDs and Cds for the group and finish the laundry. I am planning to do most of the car packing tonight with the final items to be put in tomorrow.

I am grateful to my mother for showing me by example how to get ready for a trip with kids.
