First Snow of the Season
Dec. 20th, 2004 10:09 amWe started with rain which turned to sleet and then to snow. The snow is minimal but it is the light powdery stuff that blows in the wind so easily. The biggest problem right now is the wind. It turned the standing water on the road to a sheet of ice very quickly and dropped the wind chill to about 0. The loose snow is blowing all around. The sun has come out now which means that in a bit I have to go out and salt the steps or they won’t deliver the mail due to new rules governing safety in the work place at the Post Office.
I saw “Unfortunate Events” yesterday. It was OK. I am glad I saw it on a big screen since there is detail in the black/grey/sepia tones of the film. They could have shot it in black and white and it wouldn’t have made that much of a difference. The saddest thing was that the end credits were better than the movie. Most of my problems were with the script and some of the directions. The actors were all great. I haven’t seen Billy Connely in that sort of role in ages. I hope someone takes notice and give him more work. The kids were very well cast and the subtitles on the baby were fun.
Still waiting on word about the Job that I want. I still can use those good thoughts. I have tried my best and I do know that the odds are against me due to a number of reasons I am not going to get into. I am enjoying my freelance gigs but wouldn’t mind a little more regular money movement into my bank account.
Today is laundry day and pick up the living room. I have also started my list of things to pack for the trip. I just have to start the gathering process from the four corners of the house to a central location and then pack it all up.
I am going to try to keep up with my blog, but it may become a bit spotty until January.
I am grateful for rock salt and sand.
