Home Again Home Again
Sep. 13th, 2004 09:22 amWe arrived at the airport in lots of time. My father helped me get to the security gate and from there we made it to the gate itself in short time. By the time we got through security it was 2 hours before our flight. I took Caroline to a play area near our gate and let her run around for about an hour. A bunch of young boys came into the area and chaos ensued. The parents were keeping the kids under control and paying attention to what was going on, but you get that many boys in a group and they start to act like well boys. So I packed Caroline up and gave her a bottle of milk I was holding in reserve. We got to the gate and the plane was listed on time. At 3:00 it went to 4:00 departure then 4.20. We got in the air at 5:10. Caroline promptly went to sleep. She woke up briefly then settled back to her nap which she really needed.
It is always interesting to go back to where you grew up. I find things that are so changed and other things that have not changed at all. One thing I did notice was the number of McMansions going up in the Atlanta Area. Property prices are going through the roof for large houses on postage stamps. Also at the end of my parents’ street they are building this round about that is going to work as well as make-up on a pig. Some things haven’t changed. Fat Matt’s still does great BBQ. The gay bar scene is as strong as every in Atlanta. Old queens hold court as old queens have held court from time immemorial. I can still sneak up the steps in my parents’ house with out tripping (13 then a landing then 4) very late at night with no light.
We came home and Caroline was very happy to see the cats. The cats were very happy to retreat to the dining room. She ran around a bit and had dinner. While sitting for dinner we noticed that her nose was running. I had been wiping it before but I thought it was running due to small temper tantrums. Peter put her up to bed and she started coughing and waking up. She has a cold. I got the humidifier up and running while Peter gave her Pedicare for the cold. She woke up off and on a number of times last night. At 6 am Peter got up with her, fed her a bottle and gave her some more Pedicare. She fell into a sound sleep and is asleep as I am typing this. Poor little thing. This means of course that Peter and I will have colds by the end of the week. I think this is con crud manifesting from DragonCon. sigh
I am grateful for anything that will help my daughter get better.
