Tech Day for Most Happy

We came up with the Sketch for Shoreleave. If I can pull this one off I might want to think about retiring or doing it again at DragonCon after finding some warm bodies with a great sense of humor and some minor puppetry chops. Remember how after Depp Charge I said I was bowing out of large costumes? This one is one more outfit than the previous sketch with some pretty complicated SFXs to boot. On the other hand it is probably one of the most brilliant sketches I have heard and I would really like to execute it. Ah the conundrums of being a costumer.
We "open" tomorrow. I use the term loosely. If we get through the tech tonight it will be a bloody miracle. I have two things to finish up before I have to leave this afternoon. I want to get them done because once I do then I have completed my costuming portion of the show. I would like to relax and focus on the show itself tomorrow.
When I leave these days if Caroline is awake I tell her that I am going but I will be back later. She is old enough to grasp the concept that Mommy goes away and comes back. There has been less protest as time has gone on. She knows she will see me later. Last night I got back and she gave me lots of hugs and wanted to sit in my lap until she was ready for bed. She also has the concept of tomorrow as in "You'll get it back tomorrow" or "We will do that tomorrow." The next morning she reminds me what I had promised would happen that day. I can't tell if she has worked beyond today and tomorrow but she does have those two down.
I am grateful for whatever tech we get done.
