Cards and Games

We finally got some rain and our grass is much improved. I don't remember the type of grass we have but it hibernates during drought conditions and goes brown but as soon as conditions go back it returns as a lush green lawn. Some of the corners that get constant sunlight are still looking pretty bad but over all it seems to be returning. We might even have something to mow again next week. This is the tail end of Ophelia apparently.
Peter has been working so hard to get as many projects done before he leaves for a conference in Deadwood South Dakota. He is trying to get the King Arthur book done along with about 2 other projects. This means that he is on his "sleep who needs sleep" program. He can operate on 4 to 5 hours for about two weeks before he crashes and sleeps for almost a day. We have to alter his schedule a little since I have rehearsal tomorrow but that is not a problem.
Caroline is proving that she has inherited her parent's imagination. She is making up stories for things she is doing. Some of it I understand and right now some of it only makes sense to Caroline. She has created this chase game that has rules. If she makes it to the steps then she is safe until she wants to play again. If we are running around the coffee table then the adult has to try to run both ways at the same time. My rule is that we don't play chase until she has picked up her toys and made the floor safe to run on. Now she lets me know she wants to play chase by picking up what she is playing with then grabbing my hand and moving me to the starting point of the game which is always the same part of the floor. I need to take some current pictures of her since she is getting so big and her hair is down to her mid-back.
Cleaning is in the cards for me today. We'll see if the deck is stacked against me or if the cards are in my favor.
For Froud Fans, FYI there is a new version of the Pressed Fairy book with a DVD in the back. It is the 10th anniversary edition. They also have both Goblin and Fairy 2006 calenders along with a new blank page journal and card set. The calenders tend to go fast once they are out. I took some of my birthday money and stocked up on all things Froudian. I think I might look into a Nano iPod for the rest.
For Henson Fans there is a new book called It's not easy being green and other things to consider which uses the words of the Muppets, Jim and Jim's friends as a platform to think about things. This is a very good gift book that will probably have a long shelf life as one Henson fan gives it to another fan who will then buy a copy for yet another fan. I found it inspiring and thought provoking. It took me a couple of days to read through it because I kept putting it down and contemplating the passage I had read before moving onto the next page. The illustrations through out were fun. Some of them I hadn't seen before. I did learn a few things about Jim Henson the man I hadn't known before. When I got to the end, I wished it had been a little longer with some more writings or quotes from Jim Henson but overall I was very satisfied with the book.
I am grateful for cards.
