RIP Great Aunt Sophie

My great Aunt Sophie passed away yesterday. I remember her as kind and cheerful and short. Aunt Sophie always seems short to me. She had 12 children and many grandchildren. Aunt Sophie has infinite patience with kids and a great sense of humor. My great Uncle Joe told me on more that one occasion that he felt like the luckiest man in the world because he married his Sophie.
Uncle Joe and Aunt Sophie came to my brother Patrick’s wedding. I can remember introducing them to Peter. Aunt Sophie had apologized for not being able to attend our wedding two weeks earlier and asked Peter when we were going to start a family. Peter told her that he had three daughters from his previous marriage but we were going to try to have one. "Why stop at one?" asked Aunt Sophie," I have twelve and we’re doing just fine." I think Peter turned a little green at the thought.
I am grateful I knew Aunt Sophie.
