Crescent City Con Day 1
It has been an interesting convention. I have met people that until now I only knew through the internet. I have had a couple of panels that have gone pretty well. Caroline loves the place and has picked up speed on her running. She now has us at a dead run to catch up with her. So she is getting plenty of exercise. Which also means she is sleeping solidly when she finally falls asleep and for slightly longer periods of time.
Wendy Pini finally made it to the convention after more adventures in flying than I think she or Richard really needed. Marv Wolfman is here and we caught up on some news and agreed we needed to have a sit down meal to catch up on the rest. I also ran into Andy Fox who wrote this really different vampire novel called “The Fat White Vampire’s Blues” and the sequel “Bride of the Fat White Vampire.” I read his submission when I was working at Del Rey and thought that it was one of the best retooling of vampires that I have seen in ages.
Today breaks down as kids and costuming with a little editorial know how stuck in. Tomorrow I am all about the puppets. Oh, I won the Muppet Show trivia contest. This was even with the game show host asking me NOT to answer some of the questions. She had some hard questions too.
I have introduced Caroline to something I did as a child. The crib she is in is small enough that I can spread her blanket over it and make a “tent” for her. She loves it. I can remember taking my blanket and putting it over a child sized table I had and making myself a tent that I would go into and sometimes falls asleep.
I am grateful for the time we have had here so far.
