The IRA has declared that they are laying down their arms and proceed with non-violent means for the reunion of Ireland. This is the first time they said they were going to do it not someone else saying it was a condition of something. I am hoping that this is good news for both the people of Ireland and the United Kingdom. I don’t care to debate the right or wrongs of both sides. I am just glad that there is a ray of hope here that maybe the violence is over from that quarter. I do find it a bit odd that it comes on the heels of the London Bombing but apparently, from what I have read in the international papers, this had been in the works for sometime.
The Mets and the Yankees are scrambling for that last minute trade which will help them. I stated that the beginning of the season, I would be happy if the Mets go 500 by the end of the season. Yankees need pitching. Mets need a good first baseman and some consistent fielding. If you look at the games, the Mets problems are not in their pitching staff who have been doing beautifully each game but the fielding which is killing them with errors and stupid moves. They get better for a bit and then dissolve into the Keystone Cops. I just hope we don’t get the bonehead move of getting rid of our younger players for over the hill players past their baseball glory.
I am grateful that there is a chance for peace in Ireland
