Spring! Spring! Spring!

puppetmakerThe weather is beautiful this morning. It is already 62 and promises to get up to 70 today. I think I am going to do yard work this morning. We have sticks and debris from the last couple of storms to be picked up. The sticks could be a good find for an odd idea I have in my head for making a fairy dollhouse out of sticks. The idea is still sort of faint in my head but it is there taking shape.
I also want to go and lose myself in a cloth store or two with a couple of thrift stores added for good measure. I have sorted out 3 of the 7 costumes I need before Shoreleave but I want to do some other stuff as well. Spring seems to have sprung here in New York finally and with it the impulse to make things new.
In my continuing quest to become a better puppeteer, I am looking into a Master Class on Puppetry for Television. That and marionettes are my weak points as a well rounded all-purpose puppeteer. Some day I’ll find a good marionette class to take. They had one at the Center for Puppetry Arts but I didn’t take it due to the fact that the class always seemed to be taught when I was in the middle of stage managing something. I use to joke with Peter Hart who taught the class that he must be looking at my schedule before scheduling the class.
I am grateful for continuing education in all its weird forms.
