There are times that I wonder why I do this blog. I wonder if anyone is reading it and/or getting anything out of it. It takes time, thought and planning to write here. Then I will get an e-mail or someone will mention something that they read in my blog that touched them or caused them to think or they just enjoy reading and it makes it worth it to me.

I am hoping to get some time this weekend to reflect on the beginning of the year. We are 3 months about to be 4 months into 2005 and I don’t know where the time went. I feel some time pressure on some projects I want to do. Peter is very good about giving me some “me” time so I don’t feel too overwhelmed with everything. I try to do the same for him.

I do have the cloth for the clothing for the dolls I need to finish so I think they are next. I might slip a mask in there for variety. Then Scorpius the Muppet will be made in time for I-Con which is not that far away. After that my next creative project will be the Shoreleave costumes that I really need to sit down and do a break down of what we need for it. While that is happening, I want to complete more art for the art show at DragonCon and maybe Shoreleave. Motivation is a good thing if used correctly.

I am going to try to also get to organizing my life in storage. I have a lot of good books out there that I want to reread and Ariel would probably enjoy reading. I think I even have a couple of novels signed by this guy Peter David that I got autographed so long ago.

I am grateful for time to do what I want to do.

Just so you know

I enjoy reading your blog/lj. It's very well written and keeps me up to date on someone I've known for a long time. You do it well.

Huzzah.

Jeez, we have known each other a while haven't we? I hadn't really thought about it until I started going through my filing cabinet from the past and found some Atlanta Science Fiction club stuff. You keep me caught up on fandom in Atlanta.

I rarely comment but always read your posts. I like reading about your experiences as a mother and an artist. It is hard to make time to write, I don't have the internet at home so my only option for posting is at work and lots of time I'm, well, working.

No worries. I really enjoy your journal. I love your use of language and description. I really hope you take that and write a novel someday. I would buy it. Heck, I would help you find an agent so it could be published so I could read it.

Funny that you should say this. I've been thinking about trying to compile all of my stories into a book sometimes in the next 5-10 years. Another writer on LJ, hotblue, is in the process of having a manuscript edited and it's inspiring to actually see someone really in the process of trying to get published. How does that work? How does one find an agent? An editor? How does the book get marketed? I have a book at home called "Hawaiian Cowboys" by John Yau and I often reread it for inspiration, not that the subject matter is anything like mine, just that I appreciate the format. Same with The Cloister Walk by Kathleen Norris. Thing is, though, that both of those writers were already somewhat well known when they published these books.

I gotta agree with these others, I read your posts every time you put them up. Makes me think I know you, although I'm only seeing a small fraction of who you are.

Your posts do make me think about the things I take for granted. Like my daughter, sweet drinks, the ability to think and so on. Stuff that generally gets lost in the hustle of life. YOU remind me and others about them.

Your journal rocks too Daven. I look forward to reading it when you post. I also enjoy the heck out of your website.
Congrads on the slightly good news from work.

I always read your posts, even though I don't comment much (I don't even comment in my own LJ much!).

I rarely comments on comments unless I have a comment.
I think I used the word 'comment" excessively in the previous sentence

I read regularly, but I'm not always good about commenting. I shall strive to comment more often.

I could be completely offbase about this, but I've noticed that LJ is a very "swift" medium -- things flicker onto peoples friendslists, and then fall off as they're replaced. Quick and easy to read; quick to comment on things that don't require a lot of thought, but longer, thought-provoking essays like the sort of thing you post tend to get pushed aside by newer stuff and fall off the screen before people can come up with a thoughtful reply.

The things that I've seen get the most replies are simple calls for emotion: Yay, something good happened to me! Woe, something terrible happened -- sympathy please? Isn't this funny or cute? Replies that require thought tend to be fewer and further between.

Besides - if it weren't for your LJ, I wouldn't have found out about the Wendy Froud class!

True Dat :)
Have you finished your doll yet? I have all the fabric and now have to work up the patterns for what is in my head.

Thanks. I never really thought I wrote thought provoking essays. Makes my inner writer all happy and giggly to hear that phrase.

Look Forward to it Daily!!

I don't comment often, but I do enjoy reading your LJ everyday...I acutally look forward to it, it's interesting and often talks about things I'd not come into contact with otherwise.

I love to make crafty things...but I don't have near your talent...and aside from absolutely LOVING the Muppet's, I don't have any experience with making dolls or puppets and I find your entries on them facinating...like a "peak" inside!!

You make going to conventions come to life (something I don't have much interest in, but when you write about it...I can't stop reading...lol).

I LOVE to read about your mommy stuff, being a parent myself, how could I resist!!

Something about your journal that I like (and come into contact with) is that you write about the weather...I know it should be fun to read for me...BUT, living in Phoenix, I really miss actual seasons...and you often include weather related things as part of your journaling. This helps keep me in tune with the seasons in a round about kind of way!

Guess I've yammered on enough!

oh, yea...and you always end on a positive note...I'm naturally a pessimist, so in reading your journal, it helps remind me that there really is a lot in life to be thankful for!

Well the lack of flying sucks. Is there a way to get OFF the list?
I will be at I-Con which is the same weekend. Peter will be a World Horror on Sunday but I won't be. Which I wasn't unhappy about until now. I would have liked to meet you. Well there are other cons and I am sure our paths will cross again. World Horror sounds like it is gonna rock.
