Goals and Elbows

I have two goals for today. One is to finish Ariel’s costume for the play and the other is to get two rooms back into order. These are rooms that were clean but over the weekend happened to junk up. Then I would like to get the start on another room.
Starting tomorrow I am going to be helping with the middle school play. I am going to be their technical consultant and lighting designer. I have to get one or two things in order for that. It should be interesting teaching 10 to 14 year olds how to operate a follow spot correctly. I have done it before so I know I can.
I am itching to get onto the next thing I want to build. I want to get at least one of the FarScape puppets done before I-Con. I think Scorpie is going to be the one or Dargo. Something rather distinct at a distance. Thanks to the new book I got, I have some really good reference material to work from.
Of the three indoor cats, Vanilli has taken a shine to Caroline. The other two will accept petting for a bit before moving on. Vanilli will go to Caroline, flop down within arms reach, and go to sleep. He allows her to pet him when she wants to. He also lets her hug him, which the other two really don’t care for. Recently he has been spending more time with in reach. If you looked at the pictures on-line he is the cat in the picture entitled “cat sitting”.
I really think it is impolite to interview someone for a job and then let them find out through the grapevine that someone else was hired. I also hate being dismissed out of hand. I don’t expect an explanation as to why I was not hired but I would like the courtesy of a phone call or e-mail telling me that I was no longer in consideration.
The problem in my left elbow is getting worse. I have figured out that it is connected to the fingers somehow especially the thumb. I had a bad night’s sleep because the pain in my arm kept waking me up. I finally got comfortable and managed to get about an hour before I had to get up and attend to the girls. I am going to be very careful picking things up today including Caroline.
I am grateful for anything I get done today.

Date: 2005-03-07 01:43 pm (UTC)Do the elbow brace like you would for tennis elbow, keep it wrapped when you sleep (so you don't get a "cold" in it) and try to minimize further damage. That's my advice.

As for job issues, I know how you feel. It is inconsiderate for anyone to not let you know that someone else was hired for the position. I don't think it would hurt anyone to call and notify you that the position was filled; it's better than mailing a letter.
Publishing companies are the only ones I can think of, that notify people if they are not interested in their work. Though it can be a let-down to be rejected, it helps to soften the blow when someone says something.
