Date: 2005-02-25 04:44 pm (UTC)The question to Jim was "Whatever happened to "The Tales of the Tinkerdee"? Which he had never been asked about and ws amazed that someone he didn't know knew about it. He tracked me down later and asked how I knew about it. After that I just had to say "Tinkerdee" and he knew who I was.
What I told Neil can be found in the Tragic Tale of Mr. Punch. It came from a dicussion about puppets and how they "come to life".
From the book
"I slid the puppet onto my left hand and it came to life.
I'm not talking about anything fantastical here. You can try it yourself-find a hand-puppet. slide it onto your arm. flex your hand. move your fingers. And somehow, in the cold space between one moment and the next, the puppet becomes alive."
Neil told me that a version of that stuck in his head for the longest time after I told it to him.

You have a very interesting journal. :) I wish I could have met Mr. Henson, but he died when I was only fourteen years old.

At least I have a lifetime of inspiration left, even though Jim Henson is gone. I always loved the Muppets, but I particularly admired Henson's ability to create realistic animatronic creatures, such as the ones in Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, and The Storyteller.
