Cold Again

The temperature dropped again and adding to the wind chill factor, it is not very comfortable outside. Add to that the heater in the master bedroom seems to be non-functional and the kitchen is very cold below the bedroom. Even with an extra blanket and a warm snuggly husband, it was cold this morning. Fortunately Caroline and Ariel’s rooms were in better (i.e.: warmer) shape and the living room is livable. Peter also dressed Caroline in her warmest pajamas since her little nose was running still.

My nose seemed to be on the mend. Heck, I even started feeling almost healthy. But this morning the nose was clogged and I was a mouth breather again. I am trying an over the counter antihistamine to see if that will get rid of the problem. Speaking of antihistamine, apparently cold medication is very popular in the Midwest to make methamphetamines. Pharmacists and store clerks are finding lots of cold remedies shoplifted or people buying it in bulk to add a few more chemicals and changing it into a street drug. They are trying to limit how much one person can buy and making it 18 and over for purchase. Oklahoma is putting in a computer system that will tell if someone is going around and buying the legal limit from a bunch of stores. It may come to the point that in some states you have to have a prescription for something you can buy off the shelf in other states. Crank seems to be the crack of the Midwest.

Looks like I have my warm bodies in place for the next Costume. I think I am going to save the other one for FarPoint. If I can pull it off then I will be able to be in the audience and watch the skit. Don’t think this one is going in for workmanship but that can change depending on whether I think it is worthy of being judged for construction. Amazingly enough this one doesn’t include a puppet or mask just costumes, wigs, and some make-up.

I am still waiting to hear from D’Con about whether I made the cut or not. If I did I know what I am doing a good part of the summer. I need to set some time aside that can be used for creative endeavors. I also need to find some time to exercise, clean and take care of my family. It is amazing how quickly time can slip away from you. Next on my list is the round robin doll I have about a week and a bit to finish. Then I want to try an idea for a mask and see what I get.

I am grateful for the ability to buy Sudafed without having to pull out my driver’s license.

Here in Tennessee, they have legislation on the table that would mandate the pharmacists put the OC drugs that could be used to make Meth behind the counter, so that in order to get Sudafed, I have to go to the pharmacist and ask for it.

I understand it, but most states are trying to legislate morality and responsibility now.

Heck, if it will keep my daughter clean because these idiots can't get the components to make their junk and give it to my daugher, then I'm for it. I just hate the implied criticism of my maturitiy.

I am of two minds on this one. I agree that keeping drugs away from my kids is a good thing. But considering what a cluster f*ck my local pharmacy is now, adding stuff that they and only they can hand out is only going to add to the problem. It just ticks me off to no end that a few idiots who want to get high and out of the gene pool are making the rest of our lives harder. Which if you come to think of it is the reason for a lot of stupid laws on the books that should just be common sense.

Yeah, like manditory warnings on a cup of coffee that says "CAUTION: Contents HOT!"

Here you are limited to three boxes or whatever of anything that containes pseudoephedrine. (Did I spell that right?) Which means that nowhere around here carries my Tavist. But I can get it online.

Weird.
