Thanksgiving 2004

I am watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade as I type this. I have watched this parade for a long as I can remember. We had a chance to go see it this year in person but passed due to the weather and some other factors including Caroline’s short attention span. She does have one but if it doesn’t hold her interest then she is on to the next thing. Right now she is quietly playing in her pen with her toys.
Thanksgiving is one of the few made up holidays that doesn’t have a religious bent. Yes, I know what happened with the Indians and the Pilgrims were Puritans but giving thanks for the bounty that is our country and ours has no religion or creed. Thanksgiving is an American holiday from its inception. As an American I celebrate it. We are keeping it simple. We are not going anywhere so it’s Peter, Caroline and myself. We have a small turkey that we are going to have with stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce, gravy, and turkey cake (a cake shaped like a turkey). The weather again kinda precluded much mobility. I am thinking about doing some sewing today.
But I Digress (hey who better to use it than the wife?)
I am thankful for so much.
-I am thankful for Family. In good times and bad my family has been there for me.
-I am thankful for Friends new and old. I have some friends I have known for many years and a couple I have made in the past year. Friends are important.
-I am thankful that I own pets. They may drive me crazy at times but they do give me the time of day (I have cats). They also are good with Caroline. She has learned to pet them and they have learned to tolerate her petting.
-I am thankful for our stuff. We have a lot of stuff but much of it is cool stuff. There are times I wonder where we are going to put our stuff but we will sort it out eventually.
-I am thankful for the Internet. There is so much I wouldn’t know or be able to do with out the Internet. I can talk to friends in England or Australia. I can find stuff for the house. I can stay in touch with my family and friends
-I am thankful for this blog. When I started it this year I was a little unsure what I would do with a daily blog. I am not anymore. I find that sitting down and writing a blog a great exercise to get my mind working and my day sorted out.
-I am thankful for my Internet lists and newsgroups. I have learned so much from these groups and “met” so many wonderful people. I do appreciate y’all a lot.
-I am thankful for the opportunities I have. Some don’t pan out the way I think they are but at least I tried something new.
-I am thankful for creativity. The ability to create is so fundamental in humanity and I am glad I can exercise mine
-I am thankful for puppetry and everyone I have met through puppetry. I have had a lot happen in my life because of puppets.
-I am thankful for my Husband. He is such a wonderful person and I am so lucky to have him.
-I am thankful for my stepdaughters. They have taught me a lot about family over the years. I love you gals.
-I am thankful for Caroline. It is amazing how one little person can make such an impact in one’s life but she has totally changed mine.
I am grateful for the bounty that I have in my life.
