puppetmakerI coulda posted something yesterday but that would mean that I woulda have to peel Caroline off of me. Also I needed some time to think about what happened yesterday. Apparently Caroline did not take Mommy being gone very well. She wasn’t bad or uncontrollable. She just kept asking for me the whole day. I got back before she finished her nap and was she happy to see me after she woke up. She held onto me for a while and the rest of the evening she would go off and play with some toy and then come back to me and pat me on the knee just to make sure I was still there. It was cute and made me feel good and worth something.
The job is one I could do standing on my head but (as Peter said) why would I want to. I should hear something from them before Thanksgiving. I am now even more of two minds about it. The biggest drawback is going to be the hours since they do a lot of business on the West Coast. So I would leave before Caroline gets up and get home after she goes to sleep. If this job were on regular hours like Del Rey was, I could hack it but this may be a little too much. We’ll see what happens but the job search continues at this point. I will be surprised if I find anything else before the New Year. Publishing tend to slow down to a stop between Thanksgiving and New Years. Very hard to get anyone to pay you during that period too for a variety of reasons if you are a freelancer.
Not much written and I still have to post what I have done. I am reading through Peter’s next novel right now. It is like nothing he has ever done before. Don’t let that deter you. It is also some very engaging work. A sweeping epic science fiction novel with fantastical under tones and really great characters currently called “The Hidden Earth.” I would be sucked into this novel even if it was written by another author. I am about a 1/3 of the way into the novel now. I say a 1/3 because he hasn’t finished it yet so we don’t know how long it really is. Then he goes onto the Fantastic Four adaptation and various other projects.
I am grateful for rational work hours.
